Asian American Bar Association of Houston
A voice for the Asian-American Community
We are excited to announce that the 2024 Asian American Bar Association Gala & Silent Auction will be held on September 20, 2024 at Hotel ZaZa Museum District.
We invite all members of the Houston community to attend and support the AABA of Houston. The AABA will donate all silent auction proceeds to its non-profit, charitable affiliate organization, the Asian American Bar Foundation (AABF). Last year, the AABF awarded a record $56,000 in scholarships to law students and grants to local community organizations.
This year, our keynote speaker is civil rights attorney Dale Minami, who was the lead attorney in the landmark case that overturned the conviction of Fred Korematsu for refusing to enter a Japanese internment camp. This case is but one of many cases Dale has handled to advance the rights of Asians in America. Dale is the founder of the Asian Law Caucus Inc. and a lifelong civil rights champion who’s been awarded the ABA’s Thurgood Marshall and Spirit of Excellence Awards, NAPABA’s Trailblazer Award, and the ACLU’s Civil Liberties Award, among countless accolades. It's an honor to have Dale speak at our gala this year.
To become an underwriter for the gala, please contact AABA President-Elect Chante Westmoreland at CWestmoreland@sheppardmullin.com.
