Deportation Defense Houston is hiring! DDH brings together a cohort of immigration legal services providers to take on an innovative and aggressive approach to defending detained immigrants in Houston’s three area detention centers. We launched earlier this month and have already helped separated parents reunite with their children, secure the release of a seriously ill person from detention, and are representing a number of transgender clients and asylum seekers.
The Managing Attorney will work with HILSC’s Legal Director to implement and manage the DDH project. The ideal candidate is a seasoned attorney who specializes in removal defense and has experience managing staff, coordinating programs, developing trainings, mentoring pro bono attorneys, and working with community-based organizations. The salary for the position is $80,000-$92,000 (commensurate with experience) plus generous benefits (such as matching 6% retirement). For more information and to apply, visit: www.houstonimmigration.org/job/deportation-defense-houston-managing-attorney/.
Deadline to apply is August 10, 2018.
We hope you’ll consider this exciting opportunity to lead an innovative team of qualified and committed attorneys, DOJ reps, and legal assistants as they fight to make an impact in Texas through aggressive litigation, public education, and community engagement. Please forward widely.
Best,
Andrea Guttin
